So, today, I watched Gone With The Wind. It was the best movie I have ever watched. I've never seen anything better. It was long, though. It was very long. It was about 4 hours long. But the best 4 hours a movie could be. It makes me want to read the book more. Once I finish Gone With The Wind, I have to read October Sky. That's also a good movie. Once I'm finished October Sky, I'm pretty sure I'll end up reading Gone With The Wind again. It's just such an excellent book.

We're about to go out and eat at Olive Garden. I love Olive Garden. Their salad is pretty good. Their bread sticks are addicting. And I always get their sausage pizza and that is amazing, too.

I <3 Gone With The Wind.

PRESTON IS HOME! I love it when he's home. It feels like when my life used to be normal. Normal...how simple life used to be when he was home everyday. I miss normal life. Now he lives in Lousianna. But he's home for 2 weeks, which is awesome. And I just have to pray that he doesn't get those orders telling him to leave the beginning of August and go to Aghganistan. As long as he doesn't get those orders, he'll be coming to Walt Disney World with us too.

I really cannot wait until Disney World. We were just there in Christmas, but we seriously need to go, like now. Disney World is my second home, which unfortunately, we don't go enough to. I am like a battery and Disney World is my charger. I go to Disney World and it charges me up with happiness. I need that. Unfortunately, Disney World hasn't really added anything new in the past 6 months except for that new rollercoaster in Animal Kingdom...but that's it. I'm happy that Disney World is finally refurbishing the hotel rooms. I can't wait to see what the Wilderness Lodge will look like the next time we stay there. Supposedly, they're redoing all the rooms and adding plasma flat-screen TVs. Unfortunately, we're not staying at the Wilderness Lodge this trip...which sucks. But it's understandable. We did just go during Christmas. During Christmas we stayed at a moderate hotel, and we are again this trip. So 2 moderate hotel trips in the exchange of 1 deluxe hotel trip. Overall, I get more, but I just love the Wilderness Lodge so much.

Tomorrow's Plans...

Tomorrow, I have to wake up at like 6AM. It's going to be as if school's back on...eww. My parents have to leave early to get to New York. My dad bought my mom and himself 2 tickets to Beauty and the Beast. It's broadway...and in New York. I wish I could go, but I'll have a fun time at Nannie and Papa's. I just found out that they have all 4 seasons of Smallville on DVD. I'm going to be glued to the TV all day. And then I'll bring Gone With the Wind with me. It's actually really good. My goal is to be done it by August. That gives me a little over a month to read 1,037 pages. Then, I'll try and finish October Sky before band camp. It would be amazing if I could just get all summer homework out of the way before marching band starts full force. I'm already done my geometry summer packet. So, all I have to worry about are the summer reading books. And, the best thing about going over Nannie and Papa's is I'll see Buddy. I love Buddy. He's so cute.

Agh! At the Band Banquet last night, Mr. C announced that he's engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay! I'm so happy for him. And I'm proud to say that his fiancee is a red head. Except she's not a true red head. But she looks like a red head. Go ginger kids! Oh! And my dad sold Mr. C the ring! And he kept it from me all week! I'm so glad that the bond between my dad and Mr. C is more than the bond between my dad and myself. Wonderful. But I'm so happy for Mr. C! :)

So, I'm finally realizing what my mom's been trying to tell me. She's been trying to help me find the good in the whole not getting leadership thing, and I've finally found it. Yes, I wanted leadership more than anything. But leadership does require a lot of time, and that would get in the way of what I wanted to do this season. So, this season, I will focus on having fun because my junior-senior seasons, I plan to be drum major. So, this year will be full of fun. This season I'm planning to take a lot of pictures...so many pictures you won't even be able to count them. I also want to start drawing again...like maybe draw a few pictures of the marching band. I want to make a marching band scrapbook. I want band camp to be free of stress and full of fun. And that's my goal. For the 2006 Marching Band Season, there will be no stress. It'll be all fun. I'll make it happen.

Life isn't so great...

It's pretty pathetic. Sad. However you want to call it. It is. The fact that I cried more for not making leadership than I did for anything else. I almost cried more than when I found out my brother would be going overseas for the army. It got close...but I didn't cry that much. It's pathetic. I'm not as upset now. I'm mad...but I don't know who at. I'm not mad at Mr. C or any of the staff or anyone who beat me at Leadership. I'm mostly mad at myself. I'm trying to tell myself that I didn't practice as much as I should have...but that's not true. No one can try and tell me that listening and practicing that DM solo for 1034 times (as my iTunes tells me) is not enough. I worked so hard...but nothing paid off.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is officially the best holiday in the world. May 5th...what a great day. It absolutely was! The greatest day in the world! May 5th = amazing, astounding, awesome, enjoyable, excellent, extraordinary, fabulous, fantastic, incredible, magnificent, marvelous, miraculous, outstanding, phenomenal, pleasant, remarkable, sensational, stupendous, super, superb, surprising, swell, terrific, and tremendous. Yesterday, I went on a double date. It was Mike and Claire, who've been dating for 7 months, and me and Joey. We went to Arby's and the carnival. Well, Joey asked me out, and I said yes! It was amazing! I have a boyfriend! Life is good...

The last time I wrote was forever ago. Life's been pretty good since then though. FAME went really well. Except, on the last night of FAME Kirsten got the chicken pox and couldn't perform. My family found out that I was going to major in music. They didn't like the idea. They said that it was an unstable job. They're coming around to it now because they've realized that I'm stubborn and I'm not going to change my mind. You won't believe this but for marking period 3, I got a B in bio! Two straight marking periods of getting a C in there...but, this marking period I pulled it up to a B! Yay!

Last Wednesday the jazz band went to U. Arts for a competition. It was fun...well, most of it. The beginning wasn't fun because I got the most terrible cramps. Normally, I just get cramps in my thighs, and even though they hurt, I just get over it. But this time, the cramps were shooting all the way down to my ankles. I was in so much pain. I honestly couldn't move. I just slid to the ground and sat there because I couldn't get up. But, I took some medicine, and even though it took over an hour and a half to start working, the cramps finally went away, and I started having fun. When we were walking around campus, I was playing around with Mike's trombone. He was teaching me how to hold it and play it. It was really fun. The next day at jazz band he taught me how to play it. I can actually play it. I learned all of the 7 slide positions and almost all the notes. He's trying to convince me to quit the flute in concert band and play trombone in band. It's not going to happen.

I think that's it...adios!

sick

So, Wednesday, after dinner, I started to feel nauseous. It just kept getting worse. Then, about an hour and a half later, I threw up...a lot! My mom thought it was over. She thought that if I threw up once, it would be out of my system. WRONG! I took a shower to get the throw up off of me and when I got out, I threw up again. I got in bed, and I threw up like 8 more times through the night. I didn't get a minute of sleep. I watched the whole 2nd season of Gilmore Girls just during the night. I've never felt so sick. Look at this:

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – A suspected neuro-virus that began sweeping through Washington Township High School yesterday has forced the early dismissal of classes today. Students will be released at 11:20 a.m. in a decision rendered by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cheryl Simone. Approximately, 1,399 of the school’s 3,050 students called out of the high school this morning. Of these, 886 were from the freshmen and sophomore classes. Only eight-percent of the high school teaching staff was absent.

Lab results from samplings secured from the building yesterday by the Gloucester County Board of Health were unavailable when the decision was made to dismiss. The freshman dance, scheduled for this evening, has been postponed until Friday, March 10th. All other activities slated for the high school, including tonight’s varsity basketball game, will continue as planned.

Absentee figures from across the District’s 10 other schools did not appear to be significantly elevated.

“Every indication is that this illness is a rapid 24-hour virus that is being spread through contact and is not airborne,” Dr. Simone said. “Our custodial staff worked overtime through the night to ensure that all surfaces, desktops, door knobs and bathrooms were diligently disinfected. Student safety remains our top priority, and our decision to dismiss early was predicated on the fact that our high absenteeism has affected our educational process today. We have been in constant conversation with the Department of Health and the County Department of Education, and we will devote the weekend to a continued and thorough cleaning of the building, though we are confident that the building is safe for occupancy.”

All of the District’s elementary and middle schools will complete the regular school day.

- WTPS -

Unfortunately, because of this virus, the Freshman Dance has been canceled and rescheduled for March 10th. That's 2 weeks away! I can't wait that long!

Today wasn't that bad...

So, today wasn't that bad.

1st: Gym was terrible! We played volleyball again. I hate the team I'm on. Plus, I got hit in the head by a volleyball. It was terrible.

2nd: Bio was good because Ms. Cardamone wasn't there! Yay! We had a substitute and we watched this movie on how DNA can help solve a murder case. It was actually interesting.

3rd: Social Studies was boring. We reviewed for our China Test on Thursday. We also have a midterm on Friday. It's the third marking period! Who in the world gives a midterm when it's no longer the middle of the year? Plus, he told us we'd have a midterm on Friday two days ago!

4th: Lunch is always good because I get to eat. I just hate how there's no one to talk to.

5th: English was boring. We read Romeo and Juliet the whole time.

6th: Algebra wasn't that bad. We learned a new lesson, and it's pretty easy.

7th: French made the rest of the day good. I had to present my commercial for my restaurant (oral presentation). I was so nervous, and I was afraid I wouldn't remember all of it. I remembered it all. I think I did pretty well.

8th: Band is always good.

French Project = very cool!

Yesterday, we went over my nannie and papa's house. Well, we had to go over there because my mom is in Louisiana, and my dad had work til about 11. They didn't want Trevor and I home alone all day and all night yesterday, so we went over there. Well, while we were over there, I asked Uncle Mark to take me shopping for supplies for my French project. We ended up at Office Max. I have to make a French menu for my project. We ended up getting this type of folder which will look like a menu and paper that has a design on it. This paper has vines going around it, and it will make the menu look like a menu for a bistro. Then, when we got back to their place, he told me to come upstairs to his computer, and we'd start working on it. We only have the cover page done, but it looks amazing! He made it look really cool, and then he drew a picture, scanned it on to his computer, and put it on the cover page. It's a picture of a table and chairs outside (sort of a cafe look). It's so cool. I'm going over again today, so we can work on it. I better get an 'A' on this project!

So, I finished my book this morning. It was called "A Time for Dancing." It was extremely sad. Like, I seriously cried. It was so sad when the girl died from cancer. It was a sad book. I thought I'd like the book, even though it would be sad. I was obviously wrong! I'm not even sure if I'll read the sequel to the book.

This is a conversation between Kurt and I. With Kurt's help, I think I have solved all of my questions about my future.

RedHeadGirl321: What do you think would be a good major for me for college?
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Music.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Wow, I have never ever seen anyone write as much as you on IM.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: It is refreshing.
RedHeadGirl321: That's what I've been thinking. Well, my mom has always wanted me to be a teacher. She never really meant a music teacher, but she thinks I'd be a good teacher. Well, since I started the flute, I've fallen in love with it, and I want to play it in band next year, but I refuse to give up the clarinet. We have 3 bands at my school. I'm in the highest one on clarinet. I talked to my band teacher about dropping a lunch and doing the lowest band on the flute. He said that it was possible. My parents even liked the idea, and they're all for it. So, I'm going to do two bands next year. But, I was thinking. Why am I going to do two bands next year when I don't want to major in music? I've always told myself I wouldn't major in music because I always thought of it as a dead end job because how do you get promoted when your a music teacher.
RedHeadGirl321: to be continued...it wouldn't let me type anymore than that...i'll keep typing now
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Wow...
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Well that is what you are really, really good at, so that is what you should major in, I think.
RedHeadGirl321: You really don't get promoted when you're a music teacher. The answer to my question was because I love music. I love playing music. I love everything about music. I love writing it, playing it, listening to it...everything. So, why shouldn't I major in music? Maybe I should. Even though it's not a promoting job, I'd be satisfied everytime I made a kid love music just as much as I do. But, is it really a successful job? Seriously, it's not a high paying one, and it doesn't take that much work. I've always wanted to work in a high up business like in New York. I have no idea what I'd work as, but I've always wanted to have a job where you can get promoted and bonuses. That would be a fun job. But, I don't want to give up music. Plus, my parents have always wanted me to major in some kind of math. They think I'm good at math. I disagree. Help! I don't know what to do...
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Well, why don't you just Major and Minor.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: I am going to.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: I am going to Major in English and Minor in Spanish.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: You could Major in ? and Minor in Music.
RedHeadGirl321: I've been talking to Mr. C (one of the two band directors). He's really happy that I'm considering majoring in music. He told me what I'd have to do during high school to get there, and what I'd do once I'm in college.
RedHeadGirl321: See, but what would I do with music if it's a minor. The major that I chose would be my job. Where would music fall in?
dshOFfrmaldehyde: As a hobby...
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Or you could teach the clarinet or flute
dshOFfrmaldehyde: on weekends
dshOFfrmaldehyde: but have a different job
dshOFfrmaldehyde: there are 1209342013480 possibiblityes
dshOFfrmaldehyde: *possibilities
RedHeadGirl321: See, my mom gave me that idea a while ago. She said that I'd make a lot of extra money by teaching clarinet/ flute/ piano on weekends. But, I think I would still want to be a teacher in a school. The big career in New York doesn't seem like something I want as much. Yes, having a big time paying job in New York would be fun at first, but I don't know how long it would be fun. I don't think music will ever become boring for me.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Okay, so where is the fight?
dshOFfrmaldehyde: You know what you want.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: So Major in it.
RedHeadGirl321: Ok, but what if I could do both...sort of. Well, Mr. C teaches one band class and I think two choir classes. Well, is it possible for me to teach band and math? I don't know. I want to major in music, but I want something else. I don't want to just major in music.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Okay...major in music and then get your teaching degree...
RedHeadGirl321: Okay...that makes sense. I would major in music because that's what you have to do to do anything with music. At the same time I'd be getting a teaching degree so I can teach music, but I could always teach something else. Very good, Kurt. Thank you!
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Your welcome.
dshOFfrmaldehyde: Yeah, how hard is it to teach Geometry if you know most of it?
RedHeadGirl321: What?
dshOFfrmaldehyde: it is not hard to be a math teacher
RedHeadGirl321: oh...meaning it's not hard to be a math teacher as long as I have a teaching degree?
dshOFfrmaldehyde: yeah
RedHeadGirl321: Okay...
RedHeadGirl321: You are amazing Kurt! You just figured out my whole future online. Thank you!
dshOFfrmaldehyde: lol

No School!

No School today! We have off today and Monday because of President's Weekend. I love having off from school. Today I'll probably read and watch TV all day long. I really should work on my French project, though. Our new french teacher is nice, but he gives us a new project every week. It's crazy. I hate doing projects. This week's project is to create a restaurant, make the restaurant's menu, and make a short commercial about the restaurant and present it to the class. It's due right when we come back to school.

My dad took me to the library a couple of days ago. I picked out a lot of books. I picked up two books from the Pine Hollow series. I normally just read those books in the summer, but I was having a craving to read them, so I got them. I also picked up a book by an author I've never heard of. I got hooked from reading the back cover. It reminds me of a Lifetime movie, and you know how I'm obsessed with Lifetime movies. It's about two best friends Jules and Sam. They love to dance. One day at dance practice, Jules collapses, and she's having extreme pain in her back and hip. They take her to the hospital, but they can't find anything wrong. Jules' back and hip keep hurting. She keeps going to new doctors but none of them know what's wrong. This is as far as I've gotten, but I know what happens next from reading the back of the book. She goes to a new doctor, and she finds out she has cancer. I thought this book looked good, so I picked up another book by the same author, and I started reading the back. It said, "...after Sam lost her friend Jules from cancer, she has trouble moving on..." I was like no! I just found out what happened in the book I'm reading. It's a sequel, but the book had nothing on it to indicate that it was a sequel of the first book. I was really mad, but I still wanted to read the book, so I picked up both of them. It's a really good book. I love to read. I'm going to go read right now.

I hate cleaning...

Today wasn't the best day. My mom freaked out about how messy my room was and made me clean it. It took me forever! But, at least it's clean now. It is nicer to have a clean room.

It snowed about a foot and a half. I hate snow! I had to go shovel today. I hate shoveling. It always snows on weekends. It's pointless when it snows on a Saturday because it's going to be gone by Monday. We're still going to have to go to school.

I'm thinking of getting back into crocheting. I finished Preston's blanket over Christmas break. Then, I started Shauna's blanket. It was really pretty. The colors were turquoise and lime green. It was going pretty well, but since Shauna wanted her blanket wider than the ones before, we'd need more yarn. We got four skeins of the extra large. Well, since it was going to be wider, we'd need more. My mom went back to Walmart to get more, but when she got there she couldn't find the yarn. She asked someone, and they said that they only carry it once a year, and they wouldn't have that color yarn until the summer. Well, Shauna doesn't want to wait until the summer for me to start her blanket. We have to pick out new yarn for Shauna. But, since I already did about a foot on the blanket, there's no point in letting it go to waste. My mom gave me a good idea. I should keep working on it and make a lap blanket. We're going to donate it to the nursing home down the street. I think it's a great idea. I love to crochet. I learned over the summer. I was upset that I couldn't spend the weekend at the shore with my friend. My mom knew that I've been wanting to make a blanket. So, that weekend she taught me, and I started my own blanket. I started my blanket in July, and I finished it before band camp(end of August). After I finished mine, I made Trevor a blanket. I finished Preston's blanket right after Christmas. I also made Shauna a scarf. I've done quite a lot.

Well, to sum up today, it was boring. I can't wait until tonight because there's a new Desperate Housewives and a new Grey's Anatomy. Grey's Anatomy will be good because it's the second half of a "to be continued." It'll be good!

It's the weekend!

Finally, it's the weekend! School was fine yesterday. I was so happy to tell Mr. C that I talked to my parents about the idea of doing 2 bands next year. They liked the idea. I thought for sure that they'd hate it, but they liked it. They weren't so sure at first, but then, I reassured them that I would always stay on clarinet in marching band, and I'd always do clarinet in Wind Ensemble. They thought that I would decide to do full time flute and drop the clarinet. That would never happen. Mr. C was happy. When we were talking, he started talking about how we'll figure out a time for me to eat lunch because I'm way too skinny. Then, I told him how my family's never seen me without food in my hands. Then, somehow we got into who eats the most. He wants to have an eat-off in the summer to see who eats the most. That would be so funny if that actually happened. I definitely would win!!

Yesterday was Trevor's birthday! We had his party last night. I'm an amazing detective. I figured out what Trevor got, and then, confronted my mom about lying to me, and she gave in. I was right all along. Trevor got a tenor sax! He really liked it. He's having a bit of trouble adjusting because you play lower on the tenor sax. I got my flip book from marching band and let him play out of it because it's the same key instrument. He sounded terrible, so I joined in on my clarinet. I was also forced to play my flute for them. I hate playing in front of people. Well, that was yesterday.

It's supposed to snow tonight. I don't really care if it does because I hate the cold, and I hate the snow. Everyone is hoping that it snows. I don't care.

Not that bad of a day...

Sorry I didn't write yesterday. Today wasn't that bad. I had a hard time getting up this morning though. So here's how my day went:
1st Period: Even though it's gym, it wasn't that bad. We're playing volleyball. I love volleyball, even though it makes your arms red. I'm actually pretty good at volleyball.
2nd Period: Bio. Not a good period. We had a quiz. When I was absent because of Olympic Conference on Monday, they started a new chapter, and it was a double lab day so it was 2 periods I missed. She wouldn't reteach or review it at all for me. We're learning DNA, and they learned the basics on Monday. I come back Tuesday, and they start to get into it more, but I never learned the basics so I didn't understand it. I know I failed the quiz, even though she hasn't posted the grade yet.
3rd Period: Social Studies was okay. Social Studies is never a good period because it goes on forever. I feel like the period never ends.
4th Period: Lunch was good. I ate lunch, and then I walked around.
5th Period: I had a vocabulary quiz in English. I think I did okay on it.
6th Period: Algebra was awesome! We had a quiz on radical equations. I didn't exactly study for the quiz, but I did extra problems so I'd know it. After everyone was finished the quizzes, she announced the A's. I was holding my breath. I wanted an A so bad. She called my name. I got an A! I was so happy. Then, when I got home I checked on Power School, and I got a 100! Not only did I get an A, but I got a 100! I was thrilled!
7th Period: We didn't do much in French today. We just played Lotto (Bingo) and another game.
8th Period: Band is always good. Today, Mr. C directed us instead of Mr. Beyer. I don't know why, but it's always cool when Mr. C directs us because he isn't as strict.
After School: I wasn't sure if we had jazz band or not, so I had Shae tutor me for bio. I knew I failed today's quiz, so I needed the tutoring. She tutored me for a little over an hour. It really helped.

Oh yeah. The Olympic Conference Concert on Wednesday was good. I never got to tell you that. We played our songs pretty well. I also got my 3rd Olympic Conference patch. That's always cool. There's not much to say about the concert.

Normal Day...

Today wasn't that bad. It was a normal day. We had the Olympic Conference Honor Band Concert today. It went pretty well. Since I was at the concert, I missed the new Gilmore Girls. So, I taped it, and now I'm going to go watch it. Sorry for the short entry...I'll write more about today, tomorrow.

Forget the Superbowl

Honestly, who cares about the superbowl? I think it's stupid. I hate football. Instead of watching the superbowl for no reason...I'm going to practice the flute. Why waste my time watching a pointless football game when I could becoming better at the flute? I'm proud of how far I've come with the flute. I got a flute for Christmas, but since we were suprised with a trip to Walt Disney World, I didn't start learning the flute until December 30th. I've been teaching myself. I've been using the Rubank books because they're the best to use. I went through the Elementary book in a week. The Intermediate book took me a little longer to go through because I was learning new stuff. In the Elementary book it was basically teaching you notes and how to get sound out of the instument. In the Intermediate book you're learning minor keys. I've always had a problem learning minor keys. I've always skipped over it because I thought it was pointless to spend my time on something I'd never understand. I decided that this time I actually needed to learn it. So, the Intermediate book took me about two and a half weeks to get through it. Then, I moved on to the Advanced Volume 1. I was set back about 3 days because none of the music stores around here had it. They had the second volume but not the first. So, my dad had to order it, and I had to wait for it to come in. Finally, it came and I got started. The Advanced book is actually difficult, unlike the Elementary and the Intermediate. It's taking me longer to move along in it. I do like how the book is divided into 3 sections: Scales, Songs, and Double-Tonguing. I'm not too thrilled about the scales or the double-tonguing, but I'm happy that a third of the book is songs. Most likely, I'll never finish the book. I've tried for years to learn how to double-tongue and it's impossible for me. Supposedly, double-tonguing is hard to do on the clarinet, but it's supposed to be easy on the flute. They tried to teach me double-tonguing in the Intermediate book and I could barely do it. I did it better on the flute than I did on the clarinet but not well. And if a miracle happened and I got through the double-tonguing, there's triple-tonguing after that. I'll never finish the book. I can't believe I just wrote atleast a page all about the flute. What can I say? I'm obsessed with it!
